LUCELEC issues a Request for Proposals for 3 MW solar park for island micro-grid on St. Lucia

On February 8, 2016 St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for developing a 3 MW solar PV project. The deadline of the RFP was February 24. The 3 MW solar park will be located north of the Hewanorra International Airport at La Tourney, Vieux Fort and represents the first utility-scale solar PV project in Saint Lucia. The project is being funded by LUCELEC.

Goldwind finished wind-PV microgrid system with storage in China

Chinese wind turbine maker Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology (HKG:2208) finished a grid-connected wind-solar hybrid solution early in February. The megawatt-scale project incorporates a 2.0-MW Goldwind wind turbine, 375 kW of PV installed on dual-axis solar trackers and a high-capacity vanadium flow storage system.

Eltek Passes 10 000 Hybrid-Solar Telecom Sites Installed

Eltek announced it has installed more than 10 000 hybrid solar-grid power systems to remote telecom sites since it first launched hybrid-solar products in 2008. Solar power for telecom sites was once thought of only for off-grid telecom sites but is now picking up momentum in a wide range of network locations. By using these hybrid solutions, which combine solar backup power and high-efficiency DC power systems, instead of diesel back-up systems.

Total secures stake in Off Grid Electric and Powerhive

French Total Group explores the off-grid power generation sector with two new investments. Total has used some of the funding available via its $150 million Total Energy Ventures (TEV) venture capital fund to acquire stakes in Tanzania- and California-based Off Grid Electric, and in Powerhive, also based in California.

Fronius and Victron Energy partner for microgrid solutions 

The inverter manufacturer Fronius has announced that it will be teaming up with Victron Energy using coordinated products, the companies plan to offer systems for off-grid and continuous solar power supply.

Top 5 Hybrid Energy News (Solar- and Wind-Diesel-Hybrid + Microgrids) – Spring 2019 by THEnergy

The new edition of our “Top 5 Hybrid Energy News” features four projects and a partnership announcement. Interestingly all microgrid projects included an energy storage solution. Two projects were in mining, one in rural electrification and one in the hospitality sector.  The selected projects are located in South Africa, Argentina, the Philippines,and the Maldives. This edition features Bushveld Minerals and Energy, Millennial Lithium, Ergy Energy, ADB, ANTECO, OREEI, Four Seasons, Swimsol, ABB, Rolls Royce, and MTU Onsite Energy.
